MexArt programs are cultural immersion programs set in the picturesque mountain town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. San Miguel is a art haven for Mexicans and foreigners who come to enjoy the music festivals, the theaters, the art schools, as well as to study Spanish. The spectacular beauty and charm of San Miguel and the year-round perfect climate have been attracting Americans for the past 50 years.
At MexArt, teens develop skills in artistic fields, practice and study Spanish, make life-long friendships with students from around the world, and experience the vibrancy of Mexico! Experienced staff provide supervision within a structured program to ensure that students maximize the learning experiences and safety.
Art Program: Students choose one “focus” art area from the following: painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, printmaking, color &design, welding, and silver jewelry. Students also choose one or two electives: creative writing, community service, printmaking, painting, ceramics, drawing, and metal sculpture and jewelry.
Dance Program: Students take jazz, hip hop, modern, and some ballet during 3-hour morning classes and continue with different styles of dance in the afternoon: salsa, flamenco, contact improv. Students also teach a dance class to local children as a community service project.
